Koi fish have intrigued and inspired for centuries. They have been called “living jewels” and “swimming flowers” for their physical beauty. They are also rich with symbolic significance, such as tenacity, strength, wealth, courage and good luck.
In this painting I had the idea of the Koi fish, schooling together in the shape of one large Koi fish. Strength in numbers.
Created by dropping random splashes of red and orange ink onto a blank canvas, painting over completely with deep green and blue oil paint, then scraping and brushing the paint away to create the fish.
