One of my very first paintings, very much inspired by the Impressionists, in particular Monet. Seeing as the impressionists used small dabs of paint to create their masterpieces, as a learning process I thought I would start small. All those tiny brushstrokes take a LOT of time! So this painting is only A4 approximately, but it gave me a real appreciation of the impressionists work, especially when painted at a larger size. The huge water lily paintings are not only beautiful, but an incredible achievement for a man of Monet's age at the time.
