One of the reason's I love oil paint is that it stays wet for so long. It allows me to move the paint around the canvas, sculpting it with a pallet knife to create highlights and shadows with the thickness of the paint. These are pure colours with no white paint, resulting in a very clean, clear, luminous feel to the painting. As I quite often do, I just went with the flow of the paint, and "Thistle's" appeared.
